Job Title : Career Development Coordinator
Reports To : Director of Career Development Office : Career Development
FLSA Status : Exempt
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees internship and coursework funding programs.
- Assembles and distributes program materials to students, current, and prospective internship host sites.
- Meets with students to inform them about the programs and assist with selection of site(s) – both existing opportunities and creating new ones.
- Coordinates online application procedures.
- Communicate with internship mentors and students throughout the summer to monitor and evaluate their progress.
- Coordinates faculty funding committee selection meetings.
- Compiles internship and coursework data and statistics for end-of-year reports.
- Manages program budgets and creates payment schedule; works with the Finance Office to create and process requisitions for payments.
- Oversee the coordination and management of student work-study employment on campus.
- Assists with on campus opening opportunities.
- Works closely with the hiring managers with hiring and placement of student locations.
- Answer student questions about work study jobs.
- Helps plan frequent events designed to educate students about opportunities for their future, including graduate school information sessions, alumni panels, career workshops, career fairs, etc.
- Seeks out appropriate speakers and arranges for their visit to campus.
- Plans for the annual Summer Experience Fair, Internship Search Workshop, and internship and coursework funding awards events.
- With student aide assistance, they create promotional materials and advertise events to students.
- Advertises part-time, off-campus student positions.
- Designs and distributes newsletters with information relevant to student interests, including internships, graduate school, full-time jobs, etc.
- Create database to archive newsletter opportunities.
- With student aide assistance, coordinate office social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram).
- Conducts research in response to student and alumni requests and assists students in learning how to do research for themselves.
- Compiles the results of the Senior exit and First Destination alumni surveys and maintains data for use by college offices.
- Summarizes office appointment tracking data for insights into marketing programs to students relative to interests.
- Meet with students and alumni to advise on resume and cover letter preparation, internship and job search strategies, graduate school preparation, etc.

- Proficiency in MS Office- Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams Meetings
- Have or acquire a solid understanding of St. John's College and its academic program so as to effectively counsel students and alumni.
- Commitment to higher education and St. John's students' success.
- Ability to work independently and as a team, be a creative and strategic thinker, and will be self-motivated to meet or exceed goals.
- Extremely strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to speak clearly and with confidence in public situations.
- Must be collaborative and possess good judgment, strong organizational skills, the ability to manage several projects simultaneously, and the maturity to make quick and appropriate decisions under pressure.
- Display creativity, initiative, and positive attitude in carrying out responsibilities.
- Ability to oversee multiple tasks with attention to detail, a motivated/enthusiastic work style.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a broad range of internal and external constituents including students, employers, alumni, faculty, and staff.
- High energy, enthusiasm, flexibility, and ability to deal with multiple projects.
- Flexibility with hours, especially during periods when programs may extend outside of regular work hours, including some weekend work.
- Valid Driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Desired: St. John’s alumnus; relevant career development experience.
