SUMMARY:

Candidates for this position shall be able to perform multiple task related to commercial carpentry such as but not limited to: framing both with wood or metal studs and concrete forms work using carpenter's hand tools and power tools. Candidates must be able to work well with others. Some travel may be required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to the type of material required.
• Prepare layout, using rule, framing square, and other layout tools.
• Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials to prescribed measurements, using saws, chisels, and planes.
• Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob and carpenter's level.
• Erect various types of concrete forms.
• Fit and install hollow metal doors and finish hardware.

Skills and Abilities:

• Must be able to coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers.
• Must be able to climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding.
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at heights as required.
• Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
• Must be able to follow specific directions.
• Must be able stand or walk for long periods.
• Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, percentages, and fractions.
• Must be able to read and understand measuring tools and levels.
• Must be able to compare and see differences in the size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.
