Digital Health Portfolio Company | Chief Technology Officer (CTO) One of CI's Digital Health portfolio companies is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead its technology strategy, guide a high-performing team, and advance the company's digital health platform to drive scalable growth. As CTO, you’ll have the opportunity to lead groundbreaking innovation, shape the future of digital health, and drive meaningful impact for individuals, payers, and communities. Over the past three years, this company has developed a comprehensive, cloud-native (AWS/GCP), and standards-based (FHIR) technology stack. This includes member/patient management workflows, process automation, member digital apps, API integrations, and payer portals. The modern tech stack features React/NodeJS apps, AWS Lambda functions, HL7 FHIR-based Google Cloud Healthcare APIs, Google BigQuery for data warehousing, and Looker for analytics. As a key member of the executive team, the CTO will partner closely with the CEO, VP of Product, and other senior leaders to drive disruptive innovation, scale the technology platform, and position this company as a transformative force in healthcare. This role is ideal for a visionary leader with deep technical expertise, strategic business acumen, and a strong understanding of healthcare data — someone eager to build groundbreaking solutions that redefine how nutrition and health intersect in a high-growth environment. Key Responsibilities Strategic Technology Leadership Define and execute a unified product and technology strategy that accelerates business growth and positions this company as a leader in digital health innovation. Embed entrepreneurship into the company’s culture by encouraging experimentation, bold thinking, and innovation to continue to lead in the competitive healthcare market. Collaborate with executive leadership to define a long-term technology vision that aligns with business strategy, scalability, and market needs. Technology Innovation and Scalability Drive the development of proprietary technology solutions that optimize clinical outcomes, enhance member engagement, and improve ROI for healthcare payers. Optimize and enhance the existing scalable, secure, and high-performing technology infrastructure that powers the service offering, ensuring seamless integration of engineering, data, and operational processes. Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize new opportunities for market differentiation and revenue growth. Engineering and Technology Oversight Oversee engineering teams that enhance and maintain the secure, scalable, and compliant technology infrastructure that supports the company's growth and operational efficiency. Promote operational excellence through modern development practices, including DevOps, agile methodologies, and automation. Lead efforts to integrate cutting-edge technologies, such as AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics, into company's platform to drive measurable impact. Data-Driven Insights and Advanced Analytics Recruit or appoint a dynamic Data Leader reporting directly to the CTO, empowering this individual to build advanced analytics capabilities that include predictive modeling, AI-driven insights, and intuitive self-service reporting for healthcare payers. Partner with the Analytics leader in the development of advanced analytics capabilities, including predictive modeling and self-service reporting, to deliver actionable insights to healthcare payers. Ensure robust data governance, security, and compliance frameworks are in place to protect sensitive healthcare information. Leverage data as a strategic asset, embedding insights into product design, member engagement strategies, and operational decisions to optimize outcomes for both members and partners. Cultivate a data-first culture, empowering teams to use insights to inform decisions, enhance engagement, and achieve meaningful impact for members and partners. Serve as a thought leader and key representative of the company's technological vision in external forums, client engagements, and strategic partnerships. Foster a start-up mindset within the team, balancing agility with long-term planning to drive innovation and growth. Identify and evaluate emerging trends in digital health, guiding the company to explore new market opportunities and stay ahead of competitors. Team Development and Culture Building Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering and data team, cultivating a collaborative, inclusive, and innovation-driven culture. Inspire the team with a shared vision while holding them accountable for achieving key performance metrics. Develop hiring strategies to attract and retain top talent in the healthcare technology space. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline 12+ years of leadership experience in technology leadership roles, with 5+ years in a senior leadership position (e.g., CTO, VP of Engineering) in healthcare, digital health, or technology-driven services, including significant experience leading data and analytics initiatives. Proven track record of building successful, user-centric products that drive business growth and adoption in the healthcare sector with a strong focus on leveraging data to inform product decisions and improve user experiences. Strong background in aligning product development with business objectives to create scalable, sustainable revenue streams emphasizing the role of data analytics in measuring and optimizing business performance. Proven experience scaling engineering, data and IT teams in a high-growth, venture-backed organization. Good understanding of healthcare data standards, regulatory compliance (HIPAA, SOC 2), and payer-specific challenges, including experience in implementing data governance and security frameworks. Expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud), AI/ML technologies, and modern application architectures, with a particular emphasis on cloud-based data warehousing and analytics solutions. Good knowledge of analytics tools and predictive modeling technologies. Familiarity with healthcare metrics, claims data, and value-based care reporting standards, coupled with expertise in designing and implementing data pipelines for healthcare data analysis. Visionary thinker with the ability to translate business goals into actionable product and technology strategies. Exceptional communication skills with a strong client-facing presence and the ability to engage diverse stakeholders. Track record of fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and entrepreneurship within high-performing teams.
