Job Summary/Objective:  
The Human Resources Director leads and oversees the hospital’s human resources functions to ensure an effective and supportive workplace for healthcare employees. This role involves developing policies and programs that support staff recruitment, engagement, retention, and development as well as interacting with Payroll, Finance, and Benefits vendors to resolve billing, pay, and enrollment matters. The HR Director is also responsible for compliance with employment laws and regulations, benefits administration, handling employee relations, and guiding management on HR practices. 

Essential Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:  

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the hospital’s mission and business objectives. 
  • Assist with screening applicants and scheduling interviews for select jobs.
  • Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and training processes to ensure the acquisition and retention of quality talent. 
  • Manage employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance handling, maintaining a positive work environment. 
  • Manage the Open Enrollment process. 
  • Assists with resolving individual employee benefits issues and maintains an Issues Log to document all benefits-related escalations and resolutions.
  • Collect and update HR databases with employee information. 
  • Administer compensation, benefits, and performance management programs in line with best practices and regulatory requirements. 
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, and OSHA. 
  • Design and facilitate employee engagement initiatives to promote job satisfaction, professional development, and morale. 
  • Conduct training for management on HR policies, conflict resolution, and legal compliance. 
  • Collaborate with leadership on succession planning and organizational structure optimization. 
  • Lead health, wellness, and diversity programs that enhance the overall employee experience. 
  • Coordinate with payroll administration and ensure accuracy in employee compensation. 
  • Maintains strict confidentiality with HIPAA/compliance standards.
  • Develops and implements departmental budget. 
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff. 

Education, Certificates, and License:  

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred). 
  • Certificates / License: PHR or SHRM-CP preferred. 

Experience:  

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in human resources management, with at least 4 years in a healthcare setting.
