8 am-5 pm, Monday to Friday, occasional travel, and after hours.
Summary/Objective of Position:
Diné College is committed to establishing a college press as a cornerstone for scholarly and cultural expression, particularly emphasizing the heritage and perspectives of the Navajo Nation and broader Indigenous communities. The Editorial Director will be crucial in developing and successfully implementing this press, overseeing the business and marketing, acquisitions, editorial, design, and production of books, journals, and textbooks. This position requires strong project management skills to launch and sustain publication processes effectively, ensuring the press meets the mission and goals of scholarly excellence and cultural relevance.

Diné College Press will publish books and the Journal of Navajo Education. These works will focus on the arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis on Diné and Indigenous histories, ways, and communities. The works will advocate diverse perspectives and inspire critical thought and action. We will publish and make accessible works of intellectual, cultural, historical, and addressing challenges facing Diné and Indigenous peoples. One of our goals is to publish manuscripts, articles, and other written texts that make a positive difference for Diné and Indigenous peoples and communities. We will also publish significant non-scholarly works by writers, artists, community scholars, and intellectuals from within and beyond the academy.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Minimum:
Master's degree and/or PhD preferred in Journalism, Communications, Indigenous Studies, or a related field.
