JOB TITLE: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist
DEPARTMENT: EHS / Facilities
SHIFT: 1st Shift (Monday–Friday)
PAY RANGE: $80,000 – $90,000 annually, depending on experience

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented EHS Specialist to join our Tempe, AZ facility. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations and driving a culture of safety throughout the plant. The ideal candidate will have hands-on EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting and be passionate about continuous improvement, training, and regulatory compliance.
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs and policies aligned with OSHA, EPA, ADEQ, and other regulatory requirements
Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments; recommend and track corrective actions
Lead investigations into safety incidents, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective/preventive actions
Oversee hazardous waste processes: labeling, storage, disposal, and compliance documentation
Deliver EHS training, including new hire orientations, annual refresher courses, and targeted safety topics
Manage and maintain environmental permits and reports related to air emissions, stormwater, and waste
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, maintenance, engineering) to improve EHS practices and culture
Actively participate in safety committee meetings and support 5S and other lean/CI initiatives
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Minimum of 5 years EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, RCRA , and hazardous waste management regulations
Experience conducting audits, training, and incident investigations
Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead and influence across all levels
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS documentation tools
Certifications such as OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, or CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
Experience with Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) regulations
Familiarity with ISO 14001 or similar environmental management systems
Ability to walk manufacturing floor, climb stairs/ladders, and wear required PPE
Comfortable working in both office and production areas, including occasional outdoor exposure
May require occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs) and standing for extended periods
