JOB TITLE: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist
DEPARTMENT: EHS / Facilities
SHIFT: 1st Shift (Monday–Friday)
PAY RANGE: $80,000 – $90,000 annually, depending on experience

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented EHS Specialist to join our Tempe, AZ facility. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations and driving a culture of safety throughout the plant. The ideal candidate will have hands-on EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting and be passionate about continuous improvement, training, and regulatory compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs and policies aligned with OSHA, EPA, ADEQ, and other regulatory requirements

  • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments; recommend and track corrective actions

  • Lead investigations into safety incidents, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective/preventive actions

  • Oversee hazardous waste processes: labeling, storage, disposal, and compliance documentation

  • Deliver EHS training, including new hire orientations, annual refresher courses, and targeted safety topics

  • Manage and maintain environmental permits and reports related to air emissions, stormwater, and waste

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, maintenance, engineering) to improve EHS practices and culture

  • Actively participate in safety committee meetings and support 5S and other lean/CI initiatives

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

  • Minimum of 5 years EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, RCRA , and hazardous waste management regulations

  • Experience conducting audits, training, and incident investigations

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead and influence across all levels

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS documentation tools

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certifications such as OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, or CSP (Certified Safety Professional)

  • Experience with Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) regulations

  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 or similar environmental management systems

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to walk manufacturing floor, climb stairs/ladders, and wear required PPE

  • Comfortable working in both office and production areas, including occasional outdoor exposure

  • May require occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs) and standing for extended periods
