Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Manager ensures consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) systems, validating processes, providing documentation, and quality assurance. Collaborates with human resource objectives by actively participating in the selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining of associates. Displays strong leadership skills, effectively communicates job expectations, planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing of department and associate(s) contributions. Participating and facilitating in internal and external audits. Provide final authority for release of product. Adhere to budget.
ESSENTIAL/ PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate activities for direct reports, to achieve goals and objectives of the company. Oversee department affairs in accordance with Citrus Products’ policies, procedures, and programs. Evaluate analytical records, processes, ingredients, and packaging materials to Citrus Products standards. Give final authority for release of product for sale or withhold product from distribution. Achieves quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change. Meets quality assurance financial objectives by estimating requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. Develops quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analysis; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories. Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures. Develop and maintain productive working relationships with Plant Operations to effectively deal with quality matters. Provide departmental leadership to ensure proper training and technical knowledge on quality matters to direct reports. Ensures employees are making sound judgement in quality matters and are properly enforcing specifications and using QA authority effectively and judiciously. Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in food science or other related analytical science with 5-7 years’ experience in Quality Assurance/Control in a manufacturing facility, preferably food or beverage.
TRAINING, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE
Education requirements and possess good oral and written communication skills. Basic computer skills. Required to conduct sensory evaluation of products, both visual and organoleptic (high sense of taste and smell). Analyzing information, strategic planning, verbal communication, quality engineering, emphasizing excellence, attention to detail, thoroughness and being able to deal with complexity.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Some travel required. Promote employee development. Participate in the Citrus Products Food Safety Team and Quality programs. Train new employees. Willingness to step in. Perform other job duties as assigned.
Participate in professional development and that of colleagues, up to and including attending training sessions, conducting training, job shadowing with peers or vice a versa, learning to operate equipment, tools, successfully maintaining and obtaining required certifications/trainings.
EQUIPMENT
Computer and associated software, telephone, ear plugs, gloves, bump cap, safety glasses, apron.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a production facility. Requires moving equipment weighing over fifty (50) pounds and lifting from all levels. Requires exposure to temperature extremes, high noise levels, dust, moving equipment, heights, fumes, vibrations, hazardous chemicals, wetness, etc. Mobility to all areas of a multi-leveled production facility with heights up to fifty (50) feet.
