Maximus ( is a mission-driven consumer health company that provides men with content, community, and clinical support to optimize them in mind and body. Maximus has raised $15M from top Silicon Valley VCs such as Founders Fund and 8VC as well as leading angel investors/operators from companies like Bulletproof, Tinder, Coinbase, Daily Stoic, & Shopify.
Maximus is looking for a Freelance Content Writer with a strong understanding of scientific principles and a passion for men’s health topics. The ideal candidates will have experience writing editorial-style content similar to what you would find in Men’s Health, GQ, and other leading men’s lifestyle publications. A solid grasp of SEO best practices is essential to enhance our online visibility and reach.
Responsibilities:
Content Creation:
Write engaging, scientifically accurate articles on men’s health, fitness, nutrition, mental well-being, and lifestyle.
Develop editorial content that aligns with Maximus’ brand voice and resonates with our target audience.
Research:
Conduct thorough research to ensure all content is evidence-based and up-to-date with the latest scientific findings.
Simplify complex scientific concepts into accessible and compelling narratives for a general audience.
SEO Optimization:
Implement SEO strategies to improve content visibility, including keyword research and on-page optimization.
Collaborate with the marketing team to develop content that drives organic traffic and engagement.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the editorial and marketing teams to align content with company goals and campaigns.
Revise and edit content based on feedback to ensure the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Science, or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus.
4-5+ years of experience in science writing, journalism, or editorial roles, preferably focusing on men’s health topics.
Strong understanding of scientific concepts and the ability to translate them for a general audience.
Proven experience writing for men’s lifestyle publications or similar outlets.
Excellent written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Proficiency in SEO best practices and tools.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
