Job Description

This is an at-will and partisan position who designs public communications for members of the Republican caucus. The Graphic Designer strategically designs and physically produces mail, newsletters, infographics, info sheets, and social media posts. The role involves creating content, managing several different concurrent projects, and producing materials for a variety of both physical and online channels. The individual must be able to work closely with members, staff, and coordinate with the caucus communications and caucus services departments. The position requires in-person work Monday-Friday, with occasional remote work and occasional evening and weekend hours. A high level of confidentiality is required due to the nature of the position.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Designs physical material distributed by Republican members, including newsletters, mail, info sheets on pending legislation, and invitations to official events in and outside the Capitol
• Designs digital material distributed by Republican members, including infographics, social media posts, and provides counsel on website design
• Physically produces newsletters, signboards, mail, info sheets, and other designed material as necessary
• Maintains a file of all produced material and updates as necessary
• Maintains physical equipment needed to produce designed material
• Performs other duties assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Experience with graphic design and production is required
• Proficient in design elements and publishing software
• Must have a strong understanding of current and emerging trends in digital communications and social media strategy
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects with competing deadlines
• Experience in state government or related sectors preferred
• Familiarity with the legislative process, House rules, and guidelines is a plus
• Familiarity handling a demanding schedule preferred
