DEFINITION Are you a Housing professional looking for the right opportunity to advance your career? Join the as our next Housing Manager. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS Under the direction of the Community Services Director, the Housing Manager manages the operation of the Housing Division; performs other related duties as required; and is exempt from coverage under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Sample duties include, but are not limited to:
- Plan, organize, direct and control the operation of the Housing Authority program as a primary duty including but not limited to the Section 8 Voucher Program and the Fair Housing program;
- Supervise, train and evaluate and discipline staff;
- Participate in budget preparation and administration;
- Prepare applications for federal funding;
- Read federal regulations and various publication to make appropriate program adjustments;
- Develop forms for program use;
- Prepare correspondence and reports;
- Operate motor vehicles while performing various duties that include attending conferences, meeting and seminars as liaison representative to various agencies;
- Provide information to and consults with the public;
- Perform other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS This position requires:
Knowledge of: The principles of management including but not limited to the principles and practices of effective supervision, training and performance evaluation, budget preparation and administration; Department of Housing and Urban Development rules and regulations of the Section 8 Certificate and Voucher Programs; laws concerning landlord/tenant rental practices and housing discrimination; statistical and record-keeping methods; other service organizations and agencies.
Ability to: Efficiently and effectively manage the operation of the Housing Division including but not limited to establish and monitor program priorities; prepare and administer a budget; reason logically and creatively; prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports; demonstrate initiative; work independently and on teams; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; legally operate a motor vehicle in the State of California; meet the physical employment standards for the classification.
Minimum Required Education and Experience: - Graduation from a recognized college or university with a baccalaureate degree in a related occupational field.
- Additional related occupational experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for year-basis.
- At least five (5) years of increasingly responsible housing experience which includes two (2) years of experience in the administration of housing programs.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Selection Process: The selection process may include but is not limited to: Application review and evaluation, written examination, performance test and interview.
