The Lead Analyst, Government Relations , plays a pivotal role in developing, maintaining, and responding to policies and programs that ensure the organization's awareness of government legislation and energy policy issues that impact its operations. This role involves representing and protecting the organization's interests in legislative proceedings and the development of market poli cy and procedures. The incumbent organizes forums and gatherings with government officials to facilitate the exchange of ideas and information on business activities and potential legislation that may affect the organization. Additionally, they serve as a resource on regulatory matters related to market changes. We are looking for someone based in Austin or Houston, TX. Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, research, analyze, and communicate the potential impact of clean energy and related policy proposals and decisions that may impact development of clean energy
  • Work with internal teams (Development, Commercial, Finance, Operations) to identify policy analysis needs and determine impacts of potential policy on business outcomes
  • Facilitate and support the incorporation of policy analysis into market strategy and outlook, ensuring a shared comprehension of the immediacy of the impact of state policy risks and opportunities on our short- and long-term portfolio goals
  • Specifically, enable incorporation of a thorough comprehension of legislation passed into the AESCE portfolio outlook
  • Develop meaningful communication and notification tools best suited for various priorities and stakeholders (both internal and external)
  • Ensurekey issues and opportunities are communicated in a timely way
  • Assist with the development of State Policy Plans as needed
  • Analyze data to extract insights and develop recommendations.
  • Create a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively.
  • Demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Develop and execute project plans, coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Possess a deep understanding of the technical aspects of the energy and utility industry.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations.
  • Proactively anticipate potential issues and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Promote a culture of ethical behavior and integrity.
  • Provide regular legislative , policy and market updates and progress reports.
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences and meetings.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and their policy implications.
  • Write comprehensive reports and analyses.
Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience 5- 8 years of experience in policy work and government relations Experience in analyzing and communicating policy Experience in the energy sector with a preference for renewable energy experience Strong skills in understanding the legislative process, how the executive branch functions, and the role of state agencies Exceptional analytical skills in understanding policy impacts on energy development and pricing Natural decision-maker, able to exercise judgement and take responsibility for the consequences of actions and decisions. Ability to build long-term and productive relationships. Ability to network across the organization and externally.
