Summary We are a small preschool / childcare program in the Flatbush area in Brooklyn. Our mission is to nurture young children and facilitate joyful learning in a safe, cheerful, responsive environment that support's their holistic development. Our bright spacious classroom accommodates a mixed-aged age group of 12 children, including 3K children.
We're seeking an experienced and passionate full-time Lead Teacher/Onsite Provider to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible, dependable and have the ability to lead others and mentor staff while creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for children.
'The schedule is Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm or 8:30-5pm. Flexibility is needed as schedule might change to stay in child to staff ratio.
Duties - bring joy and creativity to the classroom environment and children?s learning
- have a loving, gentle, supportive approach with children
- develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and daily activities for children aged 2 years to 5 years
- supervise and mentor assistant teachers and support staff
- maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment
- conduct regular assessments of children's development and create individual learning plans
- communicate effectively with parents about their children's progress and any concerns
- manage classroom dynamics and implement positive behavior management strategies
- plan and lead parent-teacher conferences and family engagement activities
- assist in meal planning and preparation, ensuring nutritional guidelines are met
- maintain accurate records of children's attendance, progress, and daily activities
- collaborate with the director on program development and quality improvement initiative
- assist visitors from regulatory and affiliate agencies
- serve meals that meet nutritional standards
- assist children with personal hygiene ie diaper changing/potty, handwashing
- complete professional development trainings as needed.
Requirements - Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Associate Credential
- minimum of either 2 years of experience caring for children under six years of age or; 1 year of experience caring for children under 6 years of age plus 6 hours ECE training or; education in early childhood development
- possess strong communication & written skills
- can take frequent walks, kneel, bend, squat or crawl, lift 30 lbs
Must complete the following before the 1st day of work :
- 15 hours health and safety training (we will provide instructions)
- Pediatric & Adult CPR and First Aid (complete on your own)
- current medical statement (we will provide the form for your doctor to complete)
- start fingerprinting and background check with the Department Of Health (we will provide how-to instructions)
- 1 professional reference and 1 personal reference that are not relatives
Nice To Haves - Experience in a Reggio Emilia or Creative Curriculum classroom
