In this role, you will: Report to the Fiber & Utilities Operations Team Leader and receive direction in the form of broadly defined objectives. Assignments may vary from individual contribution to achieving goals through team leadership. This position communicates directly with the project sponsors in defining project scope. Responsibilities include achieving project results, project cost controls and effective use of all resources. Incumbent is a recognized technical leader, possessing high standards of professional performance, displaying vision and demonstrating both personal and organizational sensitivity. The Senior Mechanical Engineer for this role will provide technical leadership in Towel and Tissue Recycled Fiber and the site Utilities areas, which includes the Wastewater processing plant/Boilers and air compressor equipment. The individual will be responsible for managing and monitoring the mechanical design, development, optimization and implementation of major systems as required. Overall responsibilities include the delivery of mill asset performance objectives, delivery of cost and quality of the Hand Towel recycling plant and site Utilities areas. Projects will vary with each assignment and typically include: Project responsibility of $1 MM to $30 MM. Project team of three to thirty people including contractor management. To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve project results within required timeframes. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 8+ years of experience in a variety of plant and staff assignments, including Plant Maintenance and Operations. Experience working across multiple manufacturing technologies, e.g. LDC, UTAD and fiber-based processing experience (RF, broke, Virgin) is preferred. Experience working with external technical service providers. Accountabilities: Follows Safety Roles and Responsibilities Matrix for Loss Prevention and Control by holding themselves and all team members accountable to its tenets. Design and Development: Provides guidance in the initiation, design, optimization and development of manufacturing and supporting processes to achieve unit objectives. Specifically, to include projects that achieve significant cost savings improvements (YOY). Technical Knowledge: Develop knowledge and skills to be recognized for expertise and functional leadership in application of engineering principles, scientific analysis and project management while providing advice and counsel to others. Security and Documentation: Provides leadership in security and documentation to ensure the retrieval of data and protection of proprietary information. Problem Solving: Seeks, recognizes, defines and solves problems/opportunities to achieve unit objectives. Internal Control: Leads assigned projects/tasks to meet unit objectives within applicable corporate policies. Places emphasis on CFI and Internal Controls. Communication: Communicates to inform, engage and inspire. Emphasizes communications as a tool to build collaboration and ensure organizational alignment. Team Development: Participates in the development of others in incumbent’s expertise, while demonstrating an understanding of those with a diverse background or experience. Quality: Analyzes and improves process capability to deliver a reduction in defects and variability. Identifies, develops and provides leadership to implement products, processes, materials, systems, and procedures to achieve business objectives. Diversity: Contributes to an environment in which all team members are respected regardless of their individual differences and are motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions to achieve desired business results. Work with the team to support and drive overall business, mill, and department goals. Lead mill-wide cost transformation and sustainability initiatives. Lead/facilitate/support problem solving on chronic mechanical/safety issues, or large acute process related issues to determine root cause. Provide functional leadership and creativity in the initiation of design, development and optimization of manufacturing equipment and processes to meet unit objectives. Carry out all job responsibilities in a safe manner. Develop equipment and processes that meet safety codes, policies and guidelines. Provide leadership by example in corporate safety, quality, regulatory, product safety and sustainability. Caring for the safety and well-being of operators, maintenance and other personnel.
