Summary

We are an authentic Montessori school located at Alma School/Elliot Rd in Chandler, AZ. We are seeking several substitute assistant teachers to work on an on-call basis Monday thru Friday between the hours of 8:15 AM - 4:15 AM during our academic school year.

You would cover a shift for a teacher/assistant teacher who has a scheduled day off or calls off. Full time opportunities may present themselves for excellent performance.

Interns volunteers welcomed.

Duties

Under the direction of the Lead Teacher Guide, help establish a classroom culture of calm, productive work. Supervise the classroom when necessary and work with individual children or small groups of children as directed by the guide.

• Work with the lead guide to establish routines and rituals around transition times and non-classroom times such as line times, lunch, recess, and nap.
• Provide behavioral guidance to children in a manner that is firm, but respectful while lowering yourself to their eye level.
• Assist children in meeting their physical needs. This would include escorting children to the bathroom, helping find clean clothes, and assisting with changing clothes as needed.
• Observe the activities of the students, observe their communication with others, and take the time to communicate observations to the guides.
• Be a model to students of integrity, curiosity, responsibility, creativity, and respect for all persons as well as demonstrate respect and appreciation for racial, cultural, and gender diversity.
• Excellent child supervision
• Ability to multi task
• Lift at least 25 lbs
• Communicate effectively and demonstrate professional behavior toward students, families, and co-workers.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a joyful and respectful school environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
• Maintain professional appearance, timeliness, and reliability.
• Respond to stress and conflict with professionalism.

Requirements

• Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
• HS Diploma/GED or Evaluation Report for Foreign Credentials
• Negative TB Test within last 12 months
• Right to Work, E-Verify
• Pass a Background Check
• 18 +years old
• 2 Years Experience with children
• CPR/First Aid Certification
