We are seeking a talented and inspiring Upper School English Teacher to join our exceptional faculty and contribute to our vibrant learning community. The Upper School English Teacher will be responsible for teaching a range of literature-driven English courses at the Regular,
Honors, and Honors Seminar levels, and will have the opportunity to develop and lead specialized electives that align with students' interests. Additionally, there are ongoing opportunities to partner with the Department Chair to revise and enhance our robust curriculum.
This teacher will inspire a deep appreciation for literature, help students become confident writers, and guide students through the research process by promoting critical thinking and utilizing engaging, student-centered teaching practices. The ideal candidate will model a love of
reading and writing and will be committed to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment, providing individualized support, and engaging students in both traditional (essays, papers, quizzes) and non-traditional (Socratic seminars or Harkness discussions, multimedia projects) forms of authentic assessment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement innovative lesson plans aligned with Oxbridge Academy's English curriculum, tailored to meet diverse student needs and foster a love of learning.
Teach five sections of Upper School English courses across grade and academic levels.
Assess and document student progress, providing timely, constructive feedback to students and parents.
Cultivate an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative classroom culture that encourages students to take intellectual risks and develop a growth mindset.
Actively support Oxbridge's mission by building meaningful relationships with students, mentoring them in both academics and character development.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events, contributing to a cohesive, mission-driven academic environment.
Engage with parents, guardians, and support staff to communicate student progress and address individual learning needs.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in English literature or a closely related field required; Master's degree preferred.
A minimum of 3 years of experience teaching English at the Upper School level.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering positive, supportive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Proficiency in utilizing instructional technology to create dynamic and engaging learning experiences.

Preferred Attributes:
Prior experience teaching in an independent or private school, ideally within a mission-driven educational community.
