Key Staffing is a leading staffing company connecting skilled professionals with great opportunities in logistics, warehouse, and industrial operations. We are looking for experienced Yard Goats/Yard Jockeys to support our client’s busy yard operations in Lebec and Tulare, CA.
Position Overview:
The Yard Goat/Yard Jockey will safely and efficiently move trailers in the yard, ensuring smooth shipping and receiving operations. This is a physically demanding role that requires prior experience, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate yard trucks (yard goats/jockeys) to move trailers in and out of loading/unloading areas.
Stage trailers for inbound and outbound shipments according to operational priorities.
Inspect yard trucks before and after use, report maintenance or safety issues.
Assist drivers with trailer hookups and disconnects as needed.
Communicate effectively with warehouse and logistics staff to coordinate trailer placement.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment.
Adhere to all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and operational procedures.
Occasionally assist with warehouse tasks when yard operations allow.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Yard Goat, Yard Jockey, or yard truck operator required.
Knowledge of trailer handling, yard operations, and logistics coordination.
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (lifting, bending, climbing in/out of trailers).
Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational efficiency.
Excellent communication skills and ability to follow directions.
CDL Class B preferred, but not always required.
Reliable transportation and punctuality.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift, push, and pull heavy objects as needed.
Able to operate equipment for extended periods outdoors in various weather conditions.
