The Department of Political Science at the University of South Dakota invites applicants for a tenure-track position as assistant professor of political science in international relations and/or comparative politics. This is a nine-month, full-time appointment.
Responsibilities:
- Teach general coursework in political science. The expected workload will be six courses per academic year.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and student mentoring within the context of a strong liberal arts program.
- Share in the work of a vibrant department and apply their professional expertise in the service of the university, community and discipline.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Political Science, or a related field on the date of appointment.
The University of South Dakota is the state's flagship liberal arts institution with a "higher research" (R2) Carnegie classification. The Department also houses a NASPAA-Accredited Master of Public Administration (MPA) program and has strong ties to the university's honors program.
Given the department's strong commitment to teaching and mentoring, the department enjoys major endowments that support student internships and travel; faculty research; and professional development.
The start date will be August 22, 2025.
