Overview
We are looking for a Junior Software Developer for a short time assignment to transition a
critical company software application from its existing hosting environment to the Google Cloud
Platform. The hosting, resource provisioning, production operation of the application will
support the work of company data analysts, program analysts, and management consultants.
The ideal candidate is adept at setting up a software application development pipeline (DevOps,
QA, and production). They must be confident in their ability to read and understand the
codebase for the purpose of ensuring efficient use of cloud networking, compute, and storage
resources. They must be comfortable establishing APIs to third party open source and SAAS
applications that are designed to improve overall functionality of the company application. The
right candidate will have a strong desire to exercise best practices and novel solutions to
improve the existing application functionality and efficiency.

Job Responsibilities
- Create a software development and hosting pipeline using the Google Cloud Platform
- Learn and document the codebase
- Write and maintain code
- Assist with all aspects of software design and coding
- Update design and architecture documentation
- Conduct development tests.
- Troubleshoot and solve problems, fix minor bugs, and document findings and
recommendations
- Monitor the technical performance of internal systems.
- Attend and contribute to company development meetings.
- Write reports

Mandatory Qualifications
- Familiarity with the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or industry equivalents from Microsoft
and Amazon
- Knowledge of Git or equivalent version control systems
- 1+ years of experience with developing python applications and maintaining existing
python scripts and applications
- Experience with supporting software development projects involving multiple developers,
including working with language family IDEs and generating code documentation
- Previous experience working in an agile development environment with short
duration tasking

Desired Qualifications
- BA or BS degree or three years of related experience.
- Familiarity with database query languages and database design
- Familiarity with DevOps methodologies as part of a Continuous Integration/Continuous
Delivery, including Continuous Development and Integration Software
- Experience with software development methodologies, including Agile
- Experience with scripting languages, including Python, PowerShell, Puppet, or Ruby
- Experience with programming languages, including Java, C#, JavaScript, Ruby, Python,
C/C++, or Perl
- Familiarity with Python packages and modules that follow Python and industry-standard
design patterns
- Familiarity with different layers of the technology stack, including network, application
frameworks, database systems, and vendor solutions.
- Ability to work on multiple OS platforms, including Linux, Mac, Windows, Android, and
iOS
- Experience with iOS and Android mobile development languages, including Java,
Objective-C, or Swift
- Familiarity in using issue tracking software
- Ability to create novel solutions to challenging problems
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including ability to: work alongside others, learn
new technical trades, and become a resident expert within a team
- Possession of excellent analytical and technical writing skills
